Young photographer Ryan Lane has been rewarded for his hard work at a Bishop Auckland tenants' conference.

Ryan Lane, a 16-year-old photography student at King James Comprehensive School, volunteered to take pictures at the conference organised by Wear Valley Customer Panel.

The conference was open to all customers of Dale & Valley Homes and people there joined in discussions of many issues around housing.

Ryan has been practicing his photography for a couple of years now.

He said: “I started doing photography as a GCSE but I had done a bit before. I have used both compact and SLR cameras.”

Lesley Mellis, secretary of the Customer Panel, said: “Ryan came to our conference, which was held at his school, and took photos. He was there for the whole day.

“He took more than 80 photos of the exhibition stands, taekwondo demonstration, face painting and other events.

“We wanted to thank him so we presented him with a certificate and £50 in vouchers.”
