Wolverhampton Homes, through its Decent Homes partners, is making 15 apprenticeships available.

Now people in Wolverhampton who are looking to learn a new trade or expand their employment opportunities are being invited to apply.

The roles are in electrical, plastering, painting and decorating and multi-skilled apprenticeships and will be delivered in partnership with Decent Homes contractors Bullock Construction, Frank Haslam Milan and Thomas Vale Construction and their supply chain partners.

Decent Homes partners have been targeting prospective candidates in under-represented groups such as women and BME candidates, through local community events in Wolverhampton, since March 2010.

Councillor Paddy Bradley, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Enterprise, said: “This is fantastic news for the city. Good apprenticeships are worth their weight in gold and I would urge local people to apply for these positions.”

Shaun Aldis, Director of Property Services, Wolverhampton Homes, said: “In this time of great difficulty in the jobs market, it is fantastic news to be able to make these apprenticeships available and to play our part in Wolverhampton’s economic recovery.

“The Decent Homes programme has already taken on 69 apprentices – one of the highest figures in the country, so it gives me great pleasure to be able to offer these additional roles.”

Anyone who wishes to apply should visit www.bconstructive.co.uk and click on apprenticeships. Applications close on Friday 16 July.
