On Friday 25 June, local MP Peter Bone will visit a unique Employment Service in Wellingborough. Leading disability charity Papworth Trust has been working with Jobcentre Plus and Ingeus since October 2009 to help people in Northamptonshire get back to work.
The programme, Flexible New Deal, was developed by the Government to help more than 200,000 long-term unemployed people get a job. It also offers local employers a unique tailored recruitment service to fill either a one-off job vacancy or a full recruitment drive. Because this programme is funded by the government, Papworth Trust does not charge employers for the service.
Peter Bone will tour the office, meeting clients and hearing their stories, and talking to the staff who help them find jobs.
Lauren is one of the clients who have benefited from this programme, she says, “When I was referred to Papworth Trust I didn’t want to go - but am now really glad I did. At the time, I didn’t have anywhere to live and had been sleeping in a car and on a friend’s floor.” Lauren now works at a residential care home.
Matthew Lester of Papworth Trust says: “We have shown in Wellingborough that by giving people the right support, they can find a suitable job and gain more independence, opportunities which everyone deserves to have.”
There will be a photo opportunity at 2.30 pm and interviews can be arranged. For more details please contact Julia Rutherford, Senior Marketing Executive on 01480 357269 or email julia.rutherford@papworth.org.uk.
