June sets a new record for the use of CGA’s minibus lovingly known as "IRIS”

Twenty one different groups have booked in to use her this month, ranging from schools and scout groups to CGA sheltered scheme residents and local senior citizens groups.

The bus will travel to the Lake District, North Wales, the North Yorkshire Moors, and will make trips to seaside resorts at Morecambe, Cleveleys, Southport and of course sunny Blackpool!

The bus has been carrying an average of around 140 people each month from Preston’s diverse communities, with ages ranging from 9 to 90. All this, and she will be at everyone of this years CGA Roadshows.

“Iris” retires  at the beginning of July and is definitely going out in style.Supported financially by Barclays she will have travelled 36,000 miles in total since 2007 .

Over the past few months residents have been involved in designing how "Iris's" replacement will look and feel.

The organisations new FIAT minibus is expected to arrive at the end of the same month, fitted with wall to wall mod-cons including video screens and an onboard generator, but it will have a hard reputation to beat.

CGA's Minibus is an invaluable resource to many local people, who would not be able to arrange trips without it, and a great tool for promoting CGA in the community.
