Hundreds of residents are benefitting from the results of an extreme makeover thanks to a new environmental campaign by Barnet Homes.

Dozens of staff from the North London housing organisation visited the Whitefields estate, NW2, to carry out small jobs such as gardening, planting, cleaning and painting, along with any repairs required on the day.

The event was the first in a series of ‘Love where you live’ roadshows with a difference, through which four estates will be given a facelift this summer. Staff from all sections of the company will be working alongside willing residents to give their neighbourhoods a makeover.

Local residents were also given the opportunity to meet staff, seek advice and find out about our services, as well as lending a hand if they wished. For our younger residents entertainment and fun activities were laid on all afternoon.

Jas Chauhan, a resident of Clare Point said: “It’s brilliant, let it happen more often. It is bringing people out to meet each other and letting us get to know the staff from Barnet Homes. It has been brilliant fun too for the kids.

“I’ve been able to just pick up gas safety information today instead of having to go online.”

Barnet Homes’ Executive, Tracey Lees, said: “Barnet Homes works hard to keep estates clean and green and to a good standard. Through this campaign we want to make a long lasting difference to some of our estates and hopefully encourage more residents to take pride in their neighbourhood and feel part of their community.”

The next ‘Love where you live’ road shows will being taking place at:

  • The Grange, N2 on 29 July
  • Bittacy Hill, NW7 on 5 August
  • Belle Vue and Fosters estate, NW4 on 19 August.
