Golding Homes has begun work to transform the Harbledown House sheltered housing scheme in Fant, Maidstone.

This exciting & extensive building project will convert the 34 bedsits into 19 self-contained flats for older people. Golding Homes has worked closely with the 11 current residents to develop the plans, and these residents will remain in residence whilst work is completed. The project is being completed in partnership with construction company DCB (Kent) Ltd.

The new accommodation will include an improved heating system, sound proofing up grades, an improved level access main entrance, and a mobility scooter recharging facility. Other maintenance work will also be undertaken at the same time.

For the first time residents will also have their own kitchen and flush floor shower bathroom facilities, enabling their homes and shared facilities to be fully accessible for people with disabilities. Residents are being fully supported through the refurbishment project by the Golding Homes Support Services team.

The project will also bring improvements to the Chiropody and Hairdressing facilities at Harbledown House, which are very popular with residents.

The Day Centre at Harbledown House will see improvements to the kitchen, and the installation of accessible toilets. The Day Centre is used weekly by Age Concern and other local groups.

The major refurbishment of Harbledown House is the final work to the upgrading of Golding Homes sheltered housing schemes.
