Leading providers of showering, kitchen and daily living solutions to the elderly and disabled AKW are committed to working closely with occupational therapists and offering support to aid independent living.
When Coventry therapy services announced there wish to open a new facility to strengthen the services offered, AKW were happy to assist. The recently opened Opal Assessment and Demonstration Centre provides supported assessments and enables visitor’s to view products for themselves.
With therapists in-house, advice is readily available on the most suitable equipment and home adaptation to help individual needs and provide much needed independence. AKW have provided showering and daily living products to the centre, this for instance allows for a bathing clinic to be held three times a week making bathroom recommendations much more straight forward.
A working kitchen from the AKW Independence range has also been provided illustrating its many life enhancing features for a multi user household where users have previously found tasks more challenging.
In addition to the demonstration centre there is a telecare house, showcasing the latest telecare technology in a typical terrace house scenario. Equipment includes door entry systems and bed sensors.
The Opal also offers various training and meeting rooms for hire and use by therapy services. Manual handling and adaptation training courses are planned later this year, with potential exhibitions intended in the future.
The centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm; telephone
024 7678 5252 for details. For further information about AKW
