On Friday 12 March, residents of Wellington Court in Surbiton and Moat staff got their green-fingered gloves on and completed a mini environmental clean up of the neighbourhood. The volunteers cut back shrubs, turned over the planting areas, planted new flowers and shrubs, cleared leaves and litter and performed a thorough estate inspection to identify outstanding repairs and issues.

Tools were kindly donated by Croydon Tool Hire and will form the beginning of a ‘tool bank’ based at Moat’s Wallington office. These tools will be used for future community projects and to encourage residents to regularly hold neighbourhood tidy ups!

The tidy up gave residents the opportunity to meet with Moat officers face to face and get involved in the community where they live. The event was organised as part of Moat’s commitment for staff to become more involved in Moat communities and to increase knowledge of all areas of the organisation.

Moat’s community development officer, Colin Tanner, says; “It’s a priority for all Moat staff to support and develop happy, cohesive communities. Not only did we have the opportunity to do that at Wellington Court today, we also had a great time doing it!”
