More from Moat

On Monday 15 March, Moat staff from the community development, development and quality and defects teams took part in a garden clean up at a vulnerable supported housing resident’s home in Maldon, Essex. In December 2009 Moat staff from various departments carried out a bungalow makeover for the same resident whose home had fallen into disrepair due to neglect and personal issues. Due to poor weather conditions it was not possible previously to complete the makeover and clear the garden so staff returned to finish the job.

The event was organised as part of Moat’s commitment for staff to become more involved in Moat communities and to increase knowledge of all areas of the organisation. Moat staff worked hard both in December 2009 and on Monday 15 March, to totally transform the resident’s home and garden. Park rangers from Maldon District Council and children from the Plume School in Maldon later helped to get rid of the garden rubbish.

Local business donated various tools, equipment and resources to provide the volunteers with everything they needed.

Moat’s head of development delivery, Jason Amos, says; “It’s always a priority to help our most vulnerable residents. This project has been great because we’ve all worked together with the same single purpose - to improve this resident’s quality of life. We couldn’t have done so without the donations from local businesses. In our own ways we all regularly contribute towards helping our residents but it has been great to get out of the office and do something different!”
