Fly tippers who dumped waste on the Woodhouse Close estate in
Bishop Auckland have been tracked down and are being penalized for
their actions.
Two organisations have worked together to find the people
responsible for the dumping and issued a fixed penalty notice for
the offence. If the fixed penalty is not paid the tippers will end
up in court.
The tipping was first noticed in Cheesmond Avenue by a Dale &
Valley Homes community caretaker, who reported it to the
company’s tenancy enforcement team.
Investigation soon revealed a trail of mud from a nearby house
where the overgrown garden had been cleared.
Durham County Council and the Street Wardens were contacted to
track down the culprits and begin enforcement action.
Kath Wright, neighbourhood manager for Dale & Valley Homes,
said: “We want our estates to be places where people are
proud to live and we will take action against people who act
illegally to spoil the environment for other people.
“The council and the street wardens are in complete agreement
with us about this. If anyone has any information about fly tipping
on Woodhouse Close or any other of our estates they should contact
the tenancy enforcement team on 0800 0830 333.”
