The EU-funded Green and Blue Space Adaptation for Urban Areas and Eco Towns (GRaBS) project will be featured at Ecobuild, the world’s largest event on sustainable design, construction and the built environment today.
Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) European Project
Manager Diane Smith said:
“As the world’s largest event on sustainable design,
construction and the built environment, Ecobuild is a fantastic
opportunity to get across the emerging findings from the TCPA-led
GRaBS project. It is essential at a time of economic constraint
that the risks and vulnerabilities of climate change are understood
and that there is a commitment to adaptation as well as the
mitigation of its effects. Learning and sharing knowledge between
European countries is fundamental to demonstrating how we can
achieve this.”
Speaking today at the 10.30am ‘Urban Planning & the Public Realm’ session Diane Smith will be giving a European perspective on green infrastructure and climate change adaptation. The TCPA and the GRaBS project also support the work of the Trees & Design Action Group (TDAG), whose emerging work “No Trees, No Future” is included in the Replacement London Plan consultation draft as guidance to inform borough tree strategies. The TCPA and key representatives from other member organisations will be on TDAG’s stand at Ecobuild this year to answer any questions and welcome new members.
See www.grabs-eu.org for further information about the GRaBS project. The project has been co-financed by the European Union European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and made possible by the INTERREG IVC Programme.
