On yer bike!
A team from Preston United Youth Development Team (PU) sponsored by Community Gateway Association (CGA) wanted to do something different during the February half term holidays. Little did they know what was in store for them?
CGA's Handy Man team George Dixon and Peter Doyle team came up with
an idea for the group, they had a job to paint over 400 square
metres of fencing at one the associations sheltered housing
schemes. After a training session, and a health and safety
briefing, they got stuck into the job.
On the first day, enthusiasm was high and even though the weather tried to dampen their spirits, they worked hard to get the work completed over the next 2 days.
Team leaders at Preston United said the group had a brilliant time
and the job was an excellent way for them to give something back to
the community and re-enforce their vision of co-operation and
teamwork.
After the job was completed, the group went to Grizedale and enjoyed a day cycling around the Lake District.
Omar Khan, project leader at Preston United commenting
"Community Gateway and Preston United have been working together
closely for the past 2 years and this one of many projects that
strengthens that relationship. The comments coming back from the
group have been fantastic. It was great to see them enjoying the
work and doing something different helping the community near where
the majority of them live."
