The opening of a new multi-agency office is kick-starting the regeneration of one of Grimsby’s most well-known streets.

Cabourne Road Community House - based in a refurbished property on Grimsby’s Nunsthorpe estate – is providing a visible presence and dedicated base for Shoreline officers and partner agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour.

In response to resident concerns, Shoreline and North East Lincolnshire Council Family Intervention Programme have funded the new office bringing local agencies together while increasing engagement with the local community.

Neighbourhood Wardens, Police Community Support Officers, the Shoreline anti-social behaviour team and dedicated neighbourhood officers will hold drop-in surgeries while Humberside Police will be based at the House during weekends and evenings.

Residents can keep up to date with the transformation of their street, report crime and undertake skills, health and education courses at the new facility.

The agency is the first step in the long-term masterplan for Cabourne Road and surrounding area which will include:

• major security investments
• improvements to Shoreline homes
• reduction in the number of empty properties
• improvements to the local environment
• the provision of health and wellbeing advice
• the tackling of unemployment through resident education and skills training.

The opening of the new office also marked the beginning of a walling programme in conjunction with Northern Counties where apprentices carry out construction work on brick walls and refurbishment projects on the street, improving the general appearance of the neighbourhood.

Shoreline regeneration officer Karen Featherstone said: “We believe this will bring about real change in this area and that this facility is the first part of moving forward into a new phase creating a cohesive and sustainable community.”
