New properties in Macclesfield which have been specifically built to meet the needs of the over 55’s market have proved very popular - with two thirds of properties already allocated.

The new homes have been developed by social housing and regeneration company Contour Homes and Project Manager Louise Marsden said she was delighted with the positive response.

“It’s no wonder this new development Sutton Gardens has proved such a hit with the over 55’s,” she said. “Contour Homes is developing just 49 one and two bedroom apartments which offer modern, low maintenance homes to rent in a popular location close to local facilities.

“In addition to the high internal specification, the scheme is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, a garden stroll pathway, a parking court and a patio area which leads off the communal lounge. All of the apartments and external grounds provide level access which is also serviced by a lift to all floors.

“Add to this an average rent of around £85.00 per week including service charge - and it’s no wonder that mature people have been so keen to live here.”

56 year old Robert Nottage has recently moved in to his new apartment. “I’ve been living in Kent for over 20 years and wanted to move back home to ‘Macc’,” he said. “Sutton Gardens is ideal for my needs and I’m also close to family and friends.”

Quality and choice of housing for older people is a high priority for the new Cheshire East Council and Sutton Gardens provides high quality, accessible accommodation to allow people to live more independently as they get older.

Anyone interested in finding out more about Sutton Gardens should contact  Cheshire Peaks and Plains Housing Association on 01625 553 553 – but with just one third of the homes remaining - people need to move fast.
