Stockport Homes secured an emergency injunction against Grant Hassell of no fixed abode on 10 October 2009 for attacking a Stockport Homes’ customer in the foyer of Stonemill Terrace. The incident was caught on CCTV and this was shown as evidence at the County Court. The District Judge granted the order with an exclusion zone which excluded Mr Hassell from the whole on the Lancashire Hill Estate
Mr Hassell breached the injunction five times by entering the Lancashire Hill estate and Stockport Homes applied to the courts for committal to prison as a result of his continued breaches of the court order. Mr Hassell was committed to 28 days imprisonment for breaching the injunction on 18 January 2010.
Mr Hassell served 12 days and was released on 29 January 2010. Within six days of his release Mr Hassell went back to and entered the Lancashire Hill estate breaching the injunction once again. Mr Hassell was arrested and once again Stockport Homes applied to the court again for a further committal following this further breach.
Mr Hassell admitted he had breached the injunction and today the
District Judge sentenced him to two months custody for breach
of the order.
April Higson Director of Housing Management said “This is an
excellent example of Stockport Homes’ commitment to tackling
Anti-Social Behaviour within Stockport. It sends out a strong
message that Anti-Social Behaviour will not be tolerated and that
we will enforce any action we have taken to ensure that
perpetrators are held accountable for their own
behaviour.”
