First-time buyers will be flocking to the London Affordable New Homes Show at the Queen Elizabeth II conference Centre in Westminster this weekend.

The free event, organised by HousingOptions – jointly delivered by London HomeBuy Agents L&Q and MHO – is the only London-wide housing event which brings together major affordable housing providers operating in London, independent financial advisors (IFAs) and solicitors.

All will be on hand to offer expert advice about how to get on the housing ladder in London through government-backed HomeBuy products. Over 4,300 people have already registered to attend!

With a single visit, Londoners will be able to find out more about products such as New Build HomeBuy (also known as part-buy, part-rent or shared ownership), Rent to HomeBuy, and HomeBuy Direct. These products provide high quality homes to anyone earning up to £60,000.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "London is one of the best big cities in the world to work and live and I want it to stay that way. Affordable home ownership schemes are a fantastic way for Londoners on more modest incomes to get on the housing ladder and help keep this city thriving.

"We're investing over a £1bn a year in a whole range of affordable homes so there are now more properties to choose from than ever before in great locations across the capital."

Nic Bealey, L&Q Director of Strategy, Marketing & Sales, said: “During times of economic uncertainty, housing associations help play a major role in building communities. Through HousingOptions we are able to offer Londoners a range of opportunities into affordable home ownership.

“The HousingOptions London Affordable New Homes Show will showcase the thousands of affordable new homes and other home ownership solutions available across the capital, while IFA’s will be able to advise people on how to get a mortgage they can afford, and find the lenders offering the best deals to suit them. This offers real help now to those currently struggling to purchase a home on the open market.”

Graeme Moran, Managing Director at MHO, said: “More and more people are realising there is an affordable alternative to buying a home on the open market.

"HousingOptions is currently receiving a large influx of interest. This show is an ideal way for us to give Londoners a one stop shop to find a home they can afford, as well as talk face-to-face with sector experts.”

“HomeBuy products are key to stabilising the current financial market. They provide sustainable housing opportunities by encouraging more responsible mortgage lending on smaller shares of properties that people can afford to buy.”

The London Affordable New Homes Show takes place on Saturday, February 6 from 11am to 4pm.
