Moat has just 4 x two bedroom maisonettes and 1 x one bedroom maisonette remaining at McKenzie Place in Maldon, Essex and is holding an open day on Wednesday 3 February between 11am and 3pm. These new homes are available from £32,750 for a 25% share. Interested buyers should get in touch with Moat’s sales and marketing team immediately and find themselves a new home for 2010!
That’s just what Kelly and Andrew Skinner have done. They moved into their brand new two bedroom maisonette at McKenzie Place in December 2009 and couldn’t be happier. Kelly says; “This new place means the world to us. Now we can start our life together properly and think about having a family in the future. If we hadn’t found out about New Build HomeBuy and Moat, we’d have spent more money renting privately and wouldn’t have a home of our own to show for it.”
These homes are available on a ‘part buy / part rent’ basis. The government funded HomeBuy initiative helps first time buyers get a foot on the property ladder by purchasing a share of a new home – usually between 25 and 75%. At a later stage, further shares can be purchased until it is owned outright.
New homes at McKenzie Place benefit from their proximity to Maldon town centre and the A414. Maldon offers an excellent range of shopping facilities, stunning countryside and a location close to the Blackwater Estuary. In addition, each maisonette is kitted out with a range of modern appliances and carpets. This makes them ideal for any first time buyer currently priced out of the housing market.

Kelly and Andrew’s story
Andrew and Kelly Skinner purchased 25% of a two bedroom maisonette
through Moat’s New Build HomeBuy (NBHB) programme in December
2009 and pay Moat a subsidised rent on the remaining 75% of the
property. They will have the opportunity to purchase more shares of
their property and eventually even own it outright.
The couple got married in November 2009 but were still living separately, with their parents! The situation was frustrating and when Kelly’s grandmother, who lives in a Moat home in Heybridge, received a flyer about McKenzie Place and the new homes available; Kelly and Andrew contacted Moat immediately. They applied in August 2009 and found out that they were eligible for the two bedroom maisonette they loved in October. Within two months they’d moved in.
They love their new home and enjoy the spacious rooms which are bright and naturally well lit. McKenzie Place fits in really nicely with the local area and Kelly and Andrew love feeling like part of the community.
