More from Moat

Moat is holding an open day at The Clocktower in Stanhope, Ashford, Kent on Friday 15 January between 2pm and 6pm. January is the time to make positive changes - what better new year’s resolution than to buy a first home? Moat is helping first time buyers do this with a range of one bedroom apartments from just £17,500!

To assist with all of those other resolutions on the open day, there will be a room kitted out with a Wii fit, free fruit smoothies and a healthy buffet and an independent financial advisor will be on hand. Anyone who reserves on the day will also have the choice of a range of gifts including a Wii fit, laptop and Red Letter Day to help lucky purchasers continue to keep these resolutions once they move into their new home.

All of the homes are available on a New Build HomeBuy basis (also known as part buy / part rent or shared ownership). This government funded initiative helps first time buyers to purchase from as little as a 25% share in a home, and purchase the remainder at a later stage. Moat have a range of apartments across it’s three phases, including 10 x one bedroom apartments at The Clocktower,1 x one bedroom apartment at Adisham Gardens and 7 x one bedroom apartments at Hever Gardens.

Denise Gulliver and her husband, Mike are seeing in the new year in their new home, thanks to Moat. They were living in a three bedroom apartment in Headcorn, Ashford when they heard about Stanhope from Ashford Borough Council. They purchased 25% of a £90,000 two bedroom apartment.

Denise says; “Our new place is lovely and after our previous home, it’s like a penthouse to us! We’ve got the spare room as extra storage space and a gorgeous balcony. We are so grateful to have found this apartment and it’s great to live somewhere with a real community feel.”

Stanhope is undergoing a £150 million regeneration and a 30-year PFI contract was signed on 17 April 2007 with Ashford Borough Council and the Chrysalis Consortium.

The massive regeneration project will see the refurbishment of 323 homes and the replacement of seven blocks of flats with 442 new high quality homes. Over 230 out of these 323 homes have been refurbished and local people have been moving into the first new homes, both on affordable tenancies and as private owners. Seventy percent of these 442 new homes (309 homes) will be available for rent or shared ownership through Moat, while thirty per cent (133 homes) will be for sale on the open market through Gleeson Homes.

The community has already seen major improvements including better roads and road finishes, new footpaths and the transformation of some open green spaces into new landscaped gardens. Stanhope is also home to a new
shopping area including a mini-market with Post Office and an off license.

To book an appointment at the open day, please contact Moat’s sales and marketing team on 0845 359 6161 or visit www.moat.co.uk.
