Sales of novelty piggy banks and a dress down day have raised more
than £200 for a County Durham Charity.
Staff from Dale & Valley Homes raised £218 for the
Chyrelle Addams Breast Cancer Trust, Durham County Council
chairman’s chosen charity of the year.
Chairman Brian Myers and his wife Alice called into the offices of
Dale & Valley Homes to collect the money we raised for the
Chyrelle Addams Breast Cancer Trust.
All the money raised by the trust goes towards new equipment for
local hospitals.
Chyrelle is a cabaret singer who decided that all the money she
raised from singing would go to the trust, inspiring others to
organise their own events.
So far she has raised about £35,000 and continues to work
hard for the charity, despite still receiving medical care for her
own cancer.
Coun. Myers has set himself the target of raising £10,000 for
the charity during his year as chairman, which he is close to
achieving.
Mrs Myers said: “Even small amounts are important. They all
add up.”
Coun. Myers added: “All the money raised is for the benefit
of our local hospitals in Durham, Bishop Auckland and
Darlington.”
Peter Chaffer, chief executive of Dale & Valley Homes, said:
“Staff raise money for lots of charities. We hare delighted
to be able to support Coun. Myers in his efforts for this charity
and hope it makes a real difference to local people.”
