People in Wear Valley are being offered the chance to join in free basic skills classes to help them get the most out of life.
Anyone can sign up for the half day courses and go home with a piece of furniture they built themselves.
The courses have been held regularly for the past year by housing management company Dale & Valley Homes and have proved popular with those who have signed up.
Anyone who lives in Wear Valley and would like some advice on financial management or DIY know how.
The first part of the session will be aimed at financial awareness delivered by our own expert. There will then be a break for afternoon tea before the second part of the session, which will involve a DIY session where experts from Gentoo will show participants how to build flat pack furniture.
Course co-ordinator Damian Pearson said: “We have had a really positive response from the people who have done our course so far.
“It is aimed at anyone in the area and participants get to keep what they build.”
The next course will be built at Woodhouse Close community centre on Tuesday, January 12.
Anyone interested should contact Jackie Hall or Dawn Patterson on 0800 0830 333 or 0300 2000 194.
