David Orr, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation (NHF) and Peter Marsh, Chief Executive of the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) addressed staff and board at the Vicinity Conference on the 11th December.

This was a big coup for the organisation and it was interesting to hear their take on this year's theme, Looking To The Future.

David Orr recapped on how issues such as the economy, change in government and the impending regulatory framework of the TSA may affect the social housing sector while Peter Marsh gave us a flavour of what the new standards, which are due to come in next April, will look like. He also made positive comments about Vicinity’s performance.

Of the conference David Orr said: "This has been a really interesting day. It's great to see so many people from the organisation all in one place; it's great that there are staff and Board members here. The examples of the work that we've seen are high class, high quality, trail-blazing examples. I've found it a very inspiring day."

Peter Marsh's comments on the day were: "Thank you very much for inviting me along to spend some time with you here today.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to hear of some of the great work that you have been doing as a Group, whether that's the work with young people - taking them to Auschwitz or the work with antisocial behaviour - really understanding how to build confidence in the communities to allow people to say what's going on and to help fix problems.

"It's been a really great day and I wish you all the very best for the future."

The conference was a big success and Vicinity thanks both speakers for their excellent input into the day and their comments afterwards.
