A dedicated cleaner has been honoured with a Long Service Award from Three Valleys Housing after 25 years of dedicated work.
Sue Collins has been keeping Aston Court in Ilkeston, one of the organisation’s sheltered schemes, spotless for a quarter of a century.
She said: “I have always enjoyed my job, and I love working with the residents, both young and old.
“I enjoy the social side of the work I do too, and have gotten to know a lot of people during my time here. I enjoy helping out at coffee mornings and making residents feel welcome.”
Sue formally worked at Aston Court for Erewash Borough Council and has been an employee of Three Valleys Housing since it was created in 2002 to receive the transfer of 5,800 homes from the Council.
Residents have really taken Sue to heart, saying that they hope she “is still there in another 25 years”.
They were joined by Sue’s colleagues at the presentation, where she was commended for bringing a family atmosphere to the sheltered scheme, supporting older and vulnerable residents, and going above and beyond the call of duty.
Sarah Trueman, Three Valleys Housing Area Manager presented the award. She added: “Sue is a great person to have around. Nothing is too much effort and the residents really appreciate having her here.
“It is important that we recognise staff for long service. Having dedicated people really helps us to look after our residents and deliver an excellent service. Sue thoroughly deserves all the credit she gets.”
TVH, one of the largest housing associations in Derbyshire, manages more than 5,200 homes in Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Sandiacre and surrounding villages.
Through its nationally-accredited Carelink Centre, TVH also
supports more than 8,000 vulnerable people across the East
