The Leyland Eagles motorcycle club roared into town on Saturday to present cheques totalling £2,087.85 to the South Ribble Women’s Refuge.
The Eagles adopted the Refuge as their chosen charity for 2009. They have held many fundraising events, including a rock night, as well as collecting at various bikers’ events.
The 2009 calendar of events culminated in a procession through the town on Saturday. They arrived at the Royal British Legion Club at 2pm to present the cheques to members of the Refuge team, as well as bags and bags of toys and presents for the Refuge’s youngsters.
The bikers all sported fancy dress with one of the trikes turned into Santa's sled.
Refuge Manager, Liz Stanton, said: “I’d just like to say, on behalf of everyone involved in the Refuge, a massive thank you to the Leyland Eagles. They have brought joy and festive cheer to many families in the Chorley and South Ribble area that were facing a very bleak time during the Christmas period.
“Their efforts this year have been tireless and we are very grateful to them.”
