A Kirkby resident made life so unbearable for neighbours that courts decided he should be sent to prison.

Gary Durney, 22, received 12 weeks in prison after breaking two previous Anti Social Behaviour Injunctions given to him by Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT).

He made life hell for residents on the Mosscroft Estate in Tower Hill Kirkby with verbal threats, playing loud music during the day and night and by demonstrating persistent anti social behaviour.

KHT served Gary Durney with his first Anti Social Behaviour Injunction in April 2008 and again February 2009 which prevented him from entering the Mosscroft Estate. After constant warnings for breaking these injunctions, KHT were left with no choice but to take further action.

Liverpool County Court ordered Gary Durney to serve 12 weeks in prison with a further 6 months extension to his current injunction with the power to arrest him again if he continues to break it.

KHT’s Tenancy Enforcement Manager Emma Roberts said:
“It must be made clear to the community that KHT are willing to do whatever it takes to make our neighbourhoods safer and that violent and persistent anti social behaviour will not be tolerated.”
