When trees were removed as part of the construction process at Milton Village in Portsmouth, a promise was made that they would be replaced. That promise came to fruition last week when new trees were planted in the shared grounds of Crane Court and Avocet House.

Councillor Caroline Scott met with residents and staff of Housing 21 and also helped with the planting, which took place on Friday 4th December.

Commenting on the new trees Julia Godwin, development programme manager for Housing 21 said: “It is pleasing to see the new trees in place. I am sure they will be a welcome addition to the garden, particularly during the summer months.”

Milton Village is a new development of accommodation for older people which Housing 21 is developing in partnership with Portsmouth City Council. When complete, at the end of next year, it will provide a total of 65 extra care flats alongside Shearwater, Portsmouth City Council’s 60-bed residential home.

Building work on the final phase of 37 extra care apartments, which will include some for shared ownership, is underway.
