Two Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) care services have been rated excellent with three stars following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the regulatory body for the care sector in the UK.
Havacre Lane in Coseley, a BCHG care home that caters for up to four people with learning disabilities, was rated as a ‘three star excellent’ service by the CQC and commended for its attention to individual needs and a renewal programme that has resulted in a relaxed homely atmosphere.
Susan Ridgway, Havacre Lane Manager, said: “Our success is down to the dedication of our hard-working staff who strive to help residents live independent and fulfilling lives. This means helping people make positive choices as well as focusing on the things that give people a real sense of well-being.”
Causeway Care, BCHG’s domiciliary care agency was also rated as a three star excellent service for delivering high quality personal care in house at Braeburn House, a sheltered scheme of 36 self-contained flats for older people in Walsall.
Janet Wilkins, Braeburn House Manager since 1999, said: “Our residents tell us that they that feel at home, cared for and have lots of fun - which means we’re getting it right. We make a real effort to ensure quality care and help people have a sense of wellbeing by organising lots of social activities. This helps keep people happy, well and independent and reduces the loneliness and isolation that many people feel as they get older.”
Neil Harrison, Head of Care and Supported Housing for BCHG,
said: “I am thrilled that the CQC has recognised our staff
for the valuable work and high standards they achieve. This gives
our residents and their relatives comfort and reassurance that we
are committed to providing the best possible care by meeting and
exceeding the rigorous standards set down by the Care Standards Act
2000.”
