More Dale & Valley Homes tenants than ever before voted in an election which has chosen two members of the company’s board.
The two customer representatives to the board who were elected were Norman Button, current chairman of the board, and Colin Race, who is new to the position.
Both men live on the Woodhouse Close estate in Bishop Auckland and will serve as board members for three years.
Almost 30 per cent of tenants voted in the election, in which there were 1463 valid votes counted.
Chief executive Peter Chaffer said: “We were delighted that so many tenants took part in the election. Tenant board members rotate on a regular basis so we can look forward to elections in the future where even more want to become involved, both as candidates and as voters.”
The appointments take effect from the company’s annual general meeting at Dale & Valley House, South Church Enterprise Park, on Tuesday, December 8 at 6pm.
This meeting will be open to the public, who will be able to ask questions of the board on aspects of council house management in Wear Valley.
