Sarsen Housing Association is holding an awards ceremony to highlight the contribution residents make to improving services.
More than 50 residents donate their time on a regular basis to get involved in projects that help improve services for other residents. The annual Residents Awards have been launched this year to publicly acknowledge residents for their hard work and commitment.
There are five award categories:
The personal achievement award
The most positive resident award
The most active resident award
The ‘inspiring your community’ award
The award for the resident group that has achieved the most
The award nominations have been made by residents and winners will be announced at a Christmas lunch at Devizes Rugby Club on Wednesday, 9 December. Each winner will receive a commemorative award to mark their achievement.
Resident involvement advisor Kay Mascall said: “Most residents don’t look for recognition and quietly work behind the scenes to make a difference. They’ve helped to set spending priorities, develop new service standards, choose contractors for grass cutting, gas safety checks and other services and design a new website. The Resident Awards are our way of saying thank you and will hopefully inspire other residents to get involved.”
Resident involvement lets residents make important decisions about how services are provided. There are lots of different ways to get involved, including focus groups, special events, neighbourhood inspections, surveys and meetings.
