Tenants throughout the East Midlands have been given the chance to get closer to the people delivering their services at a residents’ conference organised by their housing association.

Three Valleys Housing, which owns and manages 5,200 homes, welcomed residents to the Village Hotel in Chilwell, Nottingham for a series of presentations and discussions aimed at encouraging greater involvement in decision-making.

As conference host, Three Valleys Housing chief executive Paul Eastwood told delegates that working in partnership with energised passionate tenants enabled the organisation to deliver better services which responded to customers’ changing needs.

New director of housing, Helen Scurr explained the service improvements delivered over the past 12 months at resident request, including an initiative enabling tenants to have more direct contact with staff dealing with their estate issues.

Residents also heard of new policies and procedures that have been put in place to tackle antisocial behaviour including greater links forged with local schools to help remove the problem before it starts.

Tenant Fred Oldershaw said: “The conference was absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t fault it any way. I‘ve not heard a bad note from anybody who was there.”

Paul Eastwood said: “Resident involvement is key to our organisation and I am delighted the event was so well received. We are also undertaking a resident involvement service review with a group of tenants to ensure our future is interwoven with the views and needs of our residents.”
