Progress Care Housing Association’s Lancashire Tenants’ Forum is looking forward to receiving a special guest at its next meeting on Thursday November 26.
Sallie Bribgen, Regional Manager (North West), of the National Housing Federation, will be meeting the members of the Forum, as part of Supported Housing Month North, to help them to design a new booklet about paying rents and service charges.
The aim of Supported Housing Month North is to shout out about
the difference housing associations are making through working with
over 165,000 people across the North of England.
The initiative is being coordinated by the National Housing
Federation, and is seeing a series of events, visits, launches and
other activities taking place. Local politicians, key stakeholders,
the local business community and the wider public were invited to
attend to find out more about what their local services do.
The Lancashire Forum was set up two years ago and meets once a month. Members have explored topics including tenants’ rights, anti-social behaviour and how to make a complaint.
Andrea Wilson, Tenant Services Manager for Progress Care Housing, said: “The Lancashire Forum members are a very enthusiastic and committed bunch. Over the past year they have helped us to design new tenant information booklets, they have given us great feedback on tenant training and they had great fun helping to film and produce our new Welcome Home DVD.
“Forum member, David Robinson, even met with the budget setting panel to give a speech in support of Progress Care Housing’s tenant participation budget.”
Progress Care Managing Director, Alan Johnson, said: “The continued involvement of the Forum helps us to improve our services and look at different ways of presenting important information to tenants.”
Derek Long, Head of North for the National Housing Federation, said: "Supported housing and floating support services do not currently have the recognition they deserve. Housing associations and other providers working in this field are unsung heroes, making a vast contribution through an enormous variety of services, tailored to meet a wide range of needs. Not only do they enable individuals to enjoy greater independence, improving the quality of life for thousands of people throughout the region, but they are also helping public sector agencies tackle regional priorities and targets.
"Supported Housing Month - North has been aimed at raising awareness, and it has acted as a fantastic showcase for this important work."
