New Progress Housing Association is holding an open day at its Ashwood Court sheltered housing scheme on Wednesday November 25.
The event aims to showcase all aspects of life within a sheltered housing scheme and rounds off a series of events held throughout November as part of Supported Housing Month North.
The day will start with a short introduction from Sue Whitham, Head of Housing Support at New Progress Housing. She’ll then hand over to the police who will talk about crime prevention and a local care agency.
A lunch will be served at 12noon before a presentation by a representative from Longton Community Church and a quiz with Ian McCondichie from Age Concern.
The event will give people thinking about making a move into sheltered accommodation a real insight into live within a scheme.
Supported Housing Month North is a month long series of activities that aims to shout out about the difference housing associations are making through working with over 165,000 people across the North of England.
Derek Long, Head of North for the National Housing Federation, said: "Supported housing and floating support services do not currently have the recognition they deserve. Housing associations and other providers working in this field are unsung heroes, making a vast contribution through an enormous variety of services, tailored to meet a wide range of needs.”
Doors open at the scheme on School Lane, Longton, at 10.30am. The event will conclude at 2.30pm.
