Youngsters in Coundon Grange are having more fun at their after school club thanks to a donation from the Better Homes, Better Lives fund.
The club was started in September by Dene Valley Community Partnership and cares for 16 children at Prince Bishops Community Primary School each evening.
The children enjoy craft activities, film nights and computers but asked organisers if they could have a wii games console and two Nintendo DSi consoles.
The scheme applied to the Better Homes, Better Lives fund, which is managed by Dale & Valley Homes, which donated £480 to pay for the consoles and a selection of games.
Clare Cummings, after school club manager, said: “The children really enjoy playing on them. We have a different activity every night but sometimes we get the wii out on extra nights because they like it so much.”
Dave Sanders, director of resources and Dale & Valley Homes, added: “We know lots of parents have to work and quality after school care is very important. It sounds as though the youngsters in Coundon Grange are really enjoying the games consoles and we are pleased to have been able to help.”
