New Progress Housing Association is holding an open day, in partnership with Age Concern and the Council of Voluntary Services (CVS), at its Tuson House sheltered housing scheme on Thursday November 19.
The event aims to showcase all aspects of life within a sheltered housing scheme.
Beverley Warburton, South Ribble Borough Council’s Crime Prevention Officer, will be talking about Neighbourhood Watch whilst the CVS will be giving handicraft demonstrations showing what residents of the schemes can do in the communal lounge.
There will also be some reflexology taster sessions taking place.
The event also forms part of Supported Housing Month North. This is a month long series of activities that aims to shout out about the difference housing associations are making through working with over 165,000 people across the North of England.
Derek Long, Head of North for the National Housing Federation, said: "Supported housing and floating support services do not currently have the recognition they deserve. Housing associations and other providers working in this field are unsung heroes, making a vast contribution through an enormous variety of services, tailored to meet a wide range of needs.”
Doors open at the scheme on Kingsfold Drive, Penwortham, at
10.30am. The event will conclude at 12pm.
