New Progress Housing Association is holding an open day, in partnership with Age Concern, at its Mainway Court sheltered housing scheme on Wednesday November 18.
The event aims to showcase all aspects of life within a sheltered housing scheme.
Beverley Warburton, South Ribble Borough Council’s Crime Prevention Officer, will be attending the event to give crime prevention advice, whilst New Progress Housing’s Aids and Adaptations officer, Pam Milne, will be showing some of the ways in which she can help to make life easier. A team from Age Concern will be holding a raffle.
The event also forms part of Supported Housing Month North. This is a month long series of activities that aims to shout out about the difference housing associations are making through working with over 165,000 people across the North of England.
Derek Long, Head of North for the National Housing Federation, said: "Supported housing and floating support services do not currently have the recognition they deserve. Housing associations and other providers working in this field are unsung heroes, making a vast contribution through an enormous variety of services, tailored to meet a wide range of needs. Not only do they enable individuals to enjoy greater independence, improving the quality of life for thousands of people throughout the region, but they are also helping public sector agencies tackle regional priorities and targets.
"Supported Housing Month - North has been aimed at raising awareness, and it has acted as a fantastic showcase for this important work."
Doors open at the scheme on Edward Street, Bamber Bridge, at 10am. The event will conclude at 2pm.
