Paul Eastwood, Chief Executive of Three Valleys Housing
Three Valleys Housing has today announced it is on track to hit the government’s Decent Homes target on all of its properties.
In 2000, the government pledged that every council and housing association property in the country would be brought up to the Decent Homes Standard by 2010.
By the end of the year, 95 per cent of Three Valleys Housing properties will be meeting targets.
The organisation has already fitted 341 new kitchens, 76 bathrooms, installed 1,400 boilers and replaced 255 chimneys, as well as many other external and internal home improvements.
Paul Eastwood, Chief Executive of Three Valleys Housing, said: “Last December 81 per cent of our properties had met the Decent Homes Standard, by the end of this year 95 per cent will meet or exceed the set requirements.
“We are committed to providing high quality, affordable homes, and to ensuring the well-being and health of all our residents.”
In order to be decent, a home should be warm, weatherproof and have reasonably modern facilities.
Three Valleys Housing has spent nearly £5 million on its major repairs and improvements programme.
The organisation was established in March 2002 to take ownership
of housing stock transferred from Erewash Borough Council. Homes
are located in urban and rural areas around Long Eaton, Ilkeston
and Sandiacre.
