Christmas has come early for three community groups in Wear Valley.
The groups have all received grants towards their Christmas parties from Dale & Valley Homes’ Better Homes, Better Lives fund.
Barrington Bites Luncheon Club at St John’s Chapel; Watergate Action Group in Crook and Foundry Fields/Low Mown Meadows/Bankfoot Grove Residents Association, also in Crook, have received a total of £700 between them.
Barrington Bites is a club for the over 50s but caters for some residents in their 90s, while Foundry Fields supports the whole community, and the Watergate group will be putting on a party for primary school-aged children in the area.
Frances Griss, from Dale & Valley Homes, said: “These are small grants which should bring happiness to a lot of people.
“Christmas is a time when it is good to feel part of a community and the Better Homes, Better Lives fund was created to support communities in Wear Valley.
“Since its launch in May it has proved an extremely popular source of support to many different groups and we hope that can continue.”
