The Fulney Field Supporters (FFS) and Extreme Spalding have successfully secured the funding for a new £200,000 multi-wheeled park for skateboarders, BMX bikers and in-line skaters.
To help raise money for the remaining funds for landscaping and an official open day, FFS held a fundraising day on Sunday 18 October on the Fulney Field, off Holbeach Road in Spalding.
Everyone was welcome and enjoyed a BBQ and lots of stalls and activities, including:
- Wii bowling
- Cake stalls
- Face painting
- Bouncy castle
- Mobile skate ramp
- Raffle
The Fulney Field Supporters formed to try and fill a void left at the playing field in Low Fulney when the old skate park had to be removed by South Holland District Council because it was unsafe.
The FFS is supported by residents, councilors, South Lincs voluntary group, South Holland District Council, Longhurst & Havelok Homes, Groundwork Lincolnshire and the police. Extreme Spalding, a group of young people and their parents, have also paid a big part in securing funding for the project.
Elaine Donaldson, L&H Homes Neighbourhood Officer and FFS spokesperson, said: “This is fantastic news for Spalding and and we are all really looking forward to the skate park.
“I have been overwhelmed by all the hard work that the project groups have put in to achieve this success.”
The new state-of-the-art park will be free and available to all
Spalding and district residents which means young people will no
longer have use streets, car parks or travel outside Spalding to
similar parks.
