Aspire Housing has secured a £7.5 million loan with Barclays Bank, which will enable the organisation to develop affordable homes at three landmark sites in Staffordshire.

It will build 188 new properties for shared ownership and social rent, with work set to start at the first site at Ingestre Square, Blurton, before the end of the year.

John Lindsay, Director of Resources for the Aspire Group, said: “We are very pleased to have secured this facility, particularly in the context of the challenging economic climate. This reflects the strength of our relationship with Barclays.

“We are committed to growing the business through the development of much-needed affordable housing.”

Aspire Housing will partner with Stoke City Council, Newcastle Borough Council and ReNew to deliver the schemes, which also include retail and community buildings, in Blurton, Cross Heath and Silverdale.

The new developments come on the back of the recently completed £12m Mill Rise Extra Care village, which opened its doors this summer.

The Aspire Group provides more than 20,000 customers with high quality, affordable homes and services across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire.

It consists of Aspire Housing, PM Training and the Realise Foundation.
