Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT)’s Impact Awards at Aintree were a huge success.

The awards are a celebration of the positive impact that KHT Employees, tenants and partners have in making Knowsley a place that people are proud to live and work in.

The evening which is in its 3rd year, was hosted by actor and radio presenter Neil Fitzmaurice who had the audience laughing throughout.

There was also entertainment from the Kirkby Performance Studio, who this year have been supported through a grant from KHT’s Advantage scheme.

There were several categories which were awarded in the night, including Knowsley Resident of the Year.

After an extremely close decision the winner was Ron Duncan from Halewood. Ron is a popular and active member of the Fairview Park Sheltered scheme community. He has organised social events, written newsletters to keep the local residents informed and entertained. He has helped to run the local community centre near to where he lives and his role has included everything from caretaker to bingo caller.

As well receiving an award, winners were given £500 to donate to a charity of their choice.

Other winners on the night included:

KHT’s Best Garden: Ian and Irene Fraser
Young Citizen of the Year: Carl Geraghty
Best Residents Association: Quarry Green
Best Community Organisation: Oasis
KHT Employee of the Year: Kelly Tasker
KHT Services Employee of the Year: Marty Mather

Speaking at the awards, KHT Chief Executive Bob Taylor said: Every year KHT celebrate many fantastic people who make it part of their every day lives to help others. It is important to recognise and celebrate the great work that goes on in Knowsley.”
