Singing sensations took centre stage at a special concert in September, to showcase their talents as part of the inspirational Sanctuary in Music project.
The project, funded by leading UK housing provider Sanctuary Group, gives young people across the country the opportunity to develop their singing talents, build their confidence and improve self-esteem over a series of 26 workshops. The project also equips them with the skills to take control of their futures and lead them into possible employment.
The event, held at Skirlington Leisure Park in Driffield, North Yorkshire, was a special concert organised by Sanctuary in Music mentor Johnny Pat, which brought together some of the best talent from four separate courses that are currently running across the country.
Eight youngsters from Banbury, Harrogate, Hull and Rotherham, sang two songs at the public event in front of family, friends and their mentor Johnny, where they were judged on their presentation, content and talent, before coming together to round off the evening’s entertainment with a group performance.
Stand out performer on the night was Rachal Hale from Rotherham who wowed the audience with her renditions of 60s hit ‘If we never say goodbye’, by Sunset Boulevard, and 70s classic ‘Snowbird’, by Ann Murray.
The singers will now return to their respective courses where they will continue to develop their talents under the guidance of Johnny.
Johnny said: “The concert was a tribute to the continued
efforts of these singers and it gives me great pleasure to see how
they how they have progressed through the course to perform on such
a fantastic stage.”
