Demolishion begins at Wisbech Road Demolishion begins at Wisbech Road

An area of Littleport in Cambridgeshire is celebrating new beginnings as a block of flats has been demolished to make way for a new £1.5 million development.

The Wisbech Road site is set to breathe new life in to the town with twenty high quality affordable homes, managed by housing provider Sanctuary Hereward.

Sanctuary’s one bedroom flats and two bedroom family homes will offer some vital affordable housing in the area with residents also benefiting from improved local transport links and easier access to the A10.

It is hoped that the demolition will also spell the end of a period of antisocial behaviour associated with the area.

Construction on the new properties will begin as soon as the demolition is complete with the development due to be finished by July 2010. The properties will be let through the Government’s Choice Based Lettings scheme, with the first tenants set to move in during Autumn next year.

Mark Osborne, Sanctuary’s senior development officer said: “Sanctuary Hereward aims to provide residents with the best quality homes and services.

“We hope that the new properties will provide residents with larger accommodation that meets the needs of a modern generation whilst providing an improved quality of life.”
