Sanctuary Group resident Johnny Paterson is in the running for a prestigious UK Housing Award.

Johnny, a resident from Hull, is one of six finalists that have been shortlisted for the Inspirational Colleague accolade for his work with the highly successful Sanctuary in Music project, which is transforming lives of residents in communities throughout the country.

Thanks to funding from Worcester-based Sanctuary Group, Johnny has been delivering a series of 26-week workshops to social housing tenants across the UK, giving residents the opportunity to develop their singing talents, build confidence and improve self-esteem.

The project also equips residents with vital new skills that can help lead them into employment, including in the entertainments industry.

Simon Clark, Sanctuary’s Director of Customer Services, said: “To be shortlisted for this award is testament to Johnny’s dedication and hard work on the project which is having such a positive impact upon residents.”

Delivered by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and Inside Housing magazine, the awards, now in their 13th year, showcase the inspirational work of housing associations.

The winners for each of the ten categories will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, 11th November.
