Sanctuary Shaftesbury is launching a programme of significant improvement works at Alan Place and Fords Farm, neighbouring estates in Reading, and has been in discussion with residents to ensure that any plans represent their views.

The works at Alan Place and Fords Farm will focus on upgrading bathrooms in every property. At Alan Place there will also be a programme of refurbishment works to the communal areas at the scheme, as well as relocating bin storage areas to create more space and better access to the staircases and improving the lighting around them.

Residents each received a brochure outlining the proposals and were invited to give their feedback at a consultation period in July, which was very well attended.

The consultation sessions were run by surveyors ATP Group, who have compiled the feedback and will now appoint a contractor with a view to beginning the works within the next 3 months.

Resident Rhonda Jackson, said: "The proposals are really exciting and it’s great to see that Sanctuary have taken the residents’ views into consideration. I’m really looking forward to seeing the improvements.”

Chris Hartfield, Sanctuary’s reinvestment manager said: “We have been working with our consultants ATP on both projects for a number of months and an important part of the planning process is ensuring that our residents at both Alan Place and Fords Farm are actively involved.

“Sanctuary Group is committed to increasing resident involvement when planning redevelopment projects and I’m pleased to say we have had a very high turnout and extremely positive response to the open days held in the show property.

Together we are committed to improving the community and we look forward to bringing this project to fruition in the next 18 months.”
