Work has been completed on a new £1.7million housing development in Kirkby.

The first tenants have moved into the first 6 of 13 new 3 and 2 bed houses built in Birkin Walk and Broad Lane, Kirkby after Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) joined up with KMBC and the Homes and Communities Agency. These houses will provide some much needed affordable homes for the community.

All the new homes are built to extremely high standards, with modern facilities that include; gas central heating, a shed, electric shower and smoke alarms. They include a number of eco-friendly features such as solar water heating panels to the roof, rainwater butts and heat detectors.

KHT’s Director of Regeneration, Maggi Howard commented:

“These new houses are a major boost for the area. With many housing projects throughout the country on hold due to the current financial situation, KHT are determined to fulfil our promises made and deliver fantastic new homes.”
