Morrison, a leading provider of repairs and maintenance services to the social housing sector, has appointed Mike Turner as Managing Director to head up its operations in the North.

In his new role Mike is responsible for Morrison’s operations in the North West, North East, Scotland and the PFI division.

Mike joined Morrison in 2002 as Finance Director following the company’s acquisition of Service Team. He later took over as Managing Director of the Midlands operation where he was responsible for delivering change management when Morrison won the repairs and maintenance contract for Midland Heart. He also managed the rollout of hand held wireless devices, which enable individual contract staff to receive information from the company’s call centre whilst out on the road.

More recently Mike has established strong employee and client relationships in the North and he has played a lead role in the transformation of service delivery at Maintenance and Property Care, Morrison’s joint venture with North Lanarkshire Council. He has also led the mobilisation of Morrison’s new contract with East Durham Homes.

Commenting on his appointment Mike said: “Primarily, my new role is to manage the continuing improvement of Morrison throughout the North and grow the business. The combined portfolio has an annual turnover of over £150 million and employs 2,400 people so it is of vital importance to the continued success of the Morrison business.”

Morrison chief executive Guy Wakeley added: “Mike’s considerable talents will be central to our re-bid work with North Lanarkshire and also to supporting growth and service improvement in Manchester, Riverside, the North East and Scotland.”

Outside work Mike is a keen sportsman and lists among his interests golf, rugby, skiing and tennis.
