Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT) picked up the prize for Supply Chain Integration for its ‘Measuring Up’ initiative at the prestigious Construction News Quality (CNQ) Awards held at Old Billingsgate, London.

LHT, part of Vicinity Housing Group, won the coveted award at an event where the best of the industry were recognised. The CNQ Awards celebrate the quality demonstrated by the UK construction industry encouraging innovation, management best practise and team work.

Through 10 different categories, the awards seek to recognise projects and companies that strive to achieve a high standard of work, cooperation and client satisfaction whilst also maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, an awareness of issues surrounding CSR and sustainability and a commitment to staff training and business improvement.

The Awards brought together hundreds of the construction industry’s professionals to honour those who have performed outstandingly over the last year.

The judges said the Trust’s “unique approach to reducing contractor costs while improving quality” made it stand out in this highly competitive category.

Committed to high standards in the delivery of contractor services for its residents, value for money is also key for LHT. The ‘Measuring Up’ initiative addresses both of these goals and was recognised for demonstrating highly effective collaboration with the supply chain.

LHT was selected for its effective client leadership and working closely with contractors to achieve its objectives. Quality and communication were also seen as key achievements for LHT with effective targets set for contractors, including attainment of the Investors in People standard and ISO14001 as well as Construction Skills Certification Scheme accreditation. LHT’s biennial contractor conference and contractor training DVD’s were also singled out for commendation.

Simon Brown, LHT Divisional Director – Asset Management said: “There was a very high standard of competition from both clients and contractors for this category. The award was based not only on the written submission, but also a 30 minute presentation including questions from a number of key industry figures. We regard this as the highest recognition of our work.”

Nick Edwards, Editor of Construction News magazine spoke on the evening: “We all know the tough challenges facing the industry today – making quality pay is a fierce struggle that you have to focus all your attention on if it is really going to help you thrive. It’s why we are so pleased and proud to run the Construction News Quality Awards. And it’s why we have kept the focus tonight on the very serious business of celebrating the victors in that struggle.”
