Affordable housing provider, Home Scotland has won Large Housing Association of the Year at the 2009 Scottish Home Awards.

The honour was announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh where it was also shortlisted in two other categories, Affordable Housing Development of the Year and Community Partnership of the Year, for its work on the Garthamlock regeneration scheme in Glasgow.

It is one of the country's leading housing associations, with homes in Dumfries & Galloway, Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Rosyth.

In September 2008, Home Scotland, which is part of UK leading affordable housing provider Home, celebrated its 10th anniversary; at the same time as passing the 3,000-mark for the number of homes it has in management. It employs 86 people.

The Scottish Home Awards were founded in 2007 to recognise excellence in the Scottish house building industry. It is an independent awards programme, run for the benefit of the house building community with the objective of helping house builders and housing associations sell and market their properties more effectively.

When making the announcement, the judges commented that Home Scotland was a company at the top of its game and showed it is a very clear and well-planned business with a professional approach to all aspects of its affairs.

Home Scotland’s Managing Director, Margarita Morrison said: “We are very pleased to receive this external validation of our hard work and my thanks go particularly to the team at Home Scotland for all their efforts, and our Board for their unstinting support.

“Our customers deserve high levels of service from us and we intend to continue to work alongside them in ensuring this is achieved.”
