Kinlochleven High School has secured sponsorship of its school football team from contractor Morrison, which provides a range of facilities management services for the school.

Morrison, which is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of a number of Highland schools on behalf of Alpha Schools (Highland) and the Highland Council, has purchased new kit for the Kinlochleven High School team for the 2009/2010 season.

Set among mountains, river, moor and woodland at the head of Loch Leven, the Highland village of Kinlochleven opened its new school in August 2008.

A combined nursery, primary and secondary school, it is one of 11 new schools delivered as a £134 million Public Private Partnership (PPP) project by Alpha Schools (Highland) Ltd to the Highland Council – the biggest programme ever undertaken by a local authority in the Highlands.

The school is also a focal point for the community, housing a community library with community leisure centre facilities adjacent to the school.

As part of a 30-year contract Morrison provides the school with a range of facilities management services including building maintenance, security, cleaning, grounds maintenance and helpdesk support.

Peter Coles, operations manager at Morrison, said: “When we were asked to sponsor the school team we were only too happy help. Working in the school on a daily basis means we can see how important sport is to the kids and we are very proud to be sponsoring the football team. At Morrison we are committed to community development and are always keen to support a good cause.”

Receiving the new strip from Morrison school head teacher John McGlip said: “We are very pleased that Morrison is sponsoring our team. Their support means all the team now feels united and is looking forward to starting the new season in brand new kit.
