The family of a convicted drug dealer are to be evicted from their home.

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) took action after Paul Prescott from Deepfield Drive in Huyton, was given an 8 year prison sentence for supplying Class A drugs.

The families behaviour breached the conditions of their tenancy agreement and this led to KHT being awarded outright possession of their property.

Prescott pleaded guilty to being involved in a drugs factory which was raided in 2006, where drugs with an estimated value of £7.1 million were found. The scale of the dealing was described as “industrial and national”.

At an appeal hearing, Liverpool High Court Of Justice heard how the Prescott family had been living a luxurious lifestyle way beyond their legitimate means.

Some of the items bought from the proceeds of crime included:

• A caravan worth £19,500 paid for in cash.
• A Volkswagen Golf worth £6,000 paid for in cash
• Enjoyed a £5,000 luxury holiday where they rented a 40 foot motor yacht, paid for in cash.
• Rented various properties in St Helens.
• Various receipts were also produced totalling purchases of over £14,000.

Although no criminal prosecution has been taken against Mrs Prescott, KHT provided clear evidence that Mrs Prescott knew her husband was dealing in drugs at a high level, and that she had knowingly benefited from the proceeds of his criminal activities.

KHT’s Chief Executive Bob Taylor said:

“This fantastic result shows that drug, gun and gang activities will not be tolerated in our communities and that by working with our partners, KHT are committed to making our neighbourhoods safer places to live in.”
