Four talented pupils from a Norwich primary school were presented with awards in a special assembly today, in recognition of winning a competition organised by a sheltered housing scheme.

Lauren Warhurst, Jade Williams, Grace Ryan and Molly Dack from Lakenham Primary School in Norwich were the lucky winners of a competition to design a poster to advertise an upcoming pantomime production of Aladdin which will be taking place later in the year.

The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Jeremy Hooke, was on hand to present the prizes to the winners, who each also received a framed version of their winning artwork.

The competition was organised by Ashby Court sheltered scheme, based on Ashby Street, Norwich and run by Cotman Housing Association. The scheme’s drama club puts on an annual pantomime performance, with past productions including adaptations of Treasure Island, Oliver and Grease!

“We had some wonderful and colourful entries to the competition, and it was incredibly hard to pick the winners” said Sheila Moore, the Scheme Manager at Ashby Court who is responsible for producing the pantomime each year. “Over 100 children from Lakenham Primary School entered the competition, and the winning entries will be used on the official programme cover and on the posters to advertise the event later this year”.
